▪️From Facebook’s anonymous source: “As many of you know, DNS for FB services has been affected, and this is most likely a symptom of the actual problem, namely: BGP peering with Facebook’s peer-to-peer routers has failed, very likely due to a configuration change that took effect shortly before the failures occurred (started at about 15:40 UTC).
Now specialists are trying to get access to peer-to-peer routers to make corrections, but people with physical access are separated from people with knowledge of how to actually authenticate in systems and people who know what to actually do, so now there is a logistical problem with combining all this knowledge.
This is also partly due to the reduction of staff in data centers due to measures to combat the pandemic.”
