In February of 2020, the world was a completely different place than it is now.
Donald Trump, on the heels of a booming economy, no involvement in foreign wars (at least where our soldiers were being killed) and relative calm on the streets was headed toward reelection.
The southern border was seeing construction of a border wall, and the immigration system seemed to be working pretty well.
The United States became energy independent and was actually exporting energy to the world. Democrats, try hard as they might, simply couldn’t pin anything on Trump.
In a matter of months, much of that changed. Now a full year and a half plus later, the United States resembles nothing of the country it did in February 2020.
The American economy is in shambles. Our once energy independent country began to be concerned once again with that evil acronym OPEC. Small businesses…those that which remain continue to struggle mightily after being decimated by draconian emergency orders put in place by power-hungry mayors and governors.
Our children continue to suffer while teacher’s unions play Russian roulette with their future. A power-mad president, Joe Biden has threatened over 80 million Americans with their livelihoods if they don’t subject themselves to a vaccine for an illness with a 99% survival rate for a majority of Americans.
Our borders have become a revolving door, mostly one way IN to our country.
We left Afghanistan in shambles after sacrificing thousands of American lives in that third-world hell hole over 20 years, the final insult being leaving nearly $80 billion in American military equipment behind for the third-world Islamic terrorist organization the Taliban.
That once booming economy? Not so much…inflation is spiraling out of control; businesses cannot find employees because they’re competing with the United States government who is giving people money to stay home.
A spend-happy Congress continues to spend money we do not have which our children, grandchildren, and great children will get the bill for. Not happy with already spending nearly $6 trillion on COVID relief and “economic stimulus,” Congress looks to spend over $5 trillion more. Our national debt is headed toward the $30 trillion mark, which is not sustainable.
We have seen the very technology that has made it easier to communicate and get information be turned against a segment of the population, blocking what they refer to as “disinformation” which is just another word for censorship.
Book burning, which we have seen before in world history in particular in Nazi Germany has now evolved into “digital” book burning, with tech companies such as Amazon deciding what books are suitable for public consumption.
Social media companies such as Twitter and Facebook actively worked to influence a national election and continue to dictate public policy.
Our educational system has turned into Marxist indoctrination camps, where American history has been replaced with a “woke” version which purports that America was founded on racist ideology, that the founding fathers were racist slave holders, and that the entire system needs to be thrown out and we need to start over.
Children are taught the opposite of what Dr. Martin Luther King told us…that we should look not at someone’s skin color but the content of their character. Now, everything is about color.
Children are taught one of two things—they are a victim because of their dark skin color—they are an oppressor if they are light skinned.
That ideology is also being put forth in our military, which used to have two missions—kill people and break things. Now, as our main adversaries such as China and Russia ramp up their military and teach their soldiers to be warriors, the American military has been turned into a grand social experiment of wokeness.
An experiment where drag queen shows are featured on military bases and where if someone is born with a penis but says they’re a female, not only are they accepted but the United States taxpayer will even pay for their “reassignment” surgery.
Make no mistake about it. This is all about a revolution and not the kind that took place in the 1700s where we fought back against British oppression and tyranny.
Certainly there are those who are pushing to destroy the capitalist system that has made the United States the greatest country in the world. They know what they want to do. However there are a lot of people who will not go quietly into that goodnight.
The last time the United States saw such a difference in opposing viewpoints and desired outcomes was in 1861. At that time, the country was looking to choose between what states would be free states and which ones would not. There were other issues of course.
Today, there is a segment of the population that wants to turn America into their version of a Marxist utopia. They want the government to be intimately involved in people’s lives from the womb to the tomb and everything in between. If you look at other experiments in Marxism or communism, it has never worked anywhere it has been tried.
The other segment of the population believes in American exceptionalism…that hard work, devotion, faith, and rugged individualism can earn someone anything they want. The American story is full of people who started with nothing and through all of the aforementioned became successful.
Much of where our country started to devolve was when we moved away from God. One need only look at what much of the progressive left worships…abortion, climate, drugs, debauchery, sexual deviance…many of the same things that have led to the demise of other great civilizations in world history, the Roman Empire being a stark example.
The only thing…the only being that can turn all of this around is the Lord our God. The foundation of this country…despite what the progressives would have you believe…were biblical principles and natural law.
It was when we started moving away from principles such as those found in the Ten Commandments…thou shalt not kill being chief among them…that America began to lose her way. When people are not only willing to but actively advocate and worship the practice of abortion, the killing of precious human life, it is hard to come back from that.
Yet, the same people who use the words “my body, my choice” to justify the killing of innocent lives say that “doesn’t count” when people don’t want to inject what many to believe a poison into their bodies. Then, what you do with your own body IS everyone’s business.
Our forefathers, the ones who sacrificed “lives,” their “fortunes,” and their “sacred honor” by signing the Declaration of Independence were human beings, humans who have faults, but who sacrificed everything to give us the nation that we had up until recently. It is now time for our generation to find our Thomas Paine…our George Washington…our James Madison and our Thomas Jefferson.
If we are to pass on the freedoms that we (used to) enjoy, we owe it to our future generations that we stand up…not next year, not next month, not next week…but today. We need to be able to look into the eyes of our children…our grandchildren…and tell them we didn’t leave anything on the table. We owe it to them.
Men and women who sacrificed in places such as Lexington, Valley Forge, Gettysburg, Bellau Wood, Iwo Jima, Normandy, South Korea, Saigon, Baghdad, and Kabul all need to be remembered for the sacrifices they made so that we can live in the most wonderful, greatest country in the world. We cannot let their lives lost be done so in vain.
So now it is time for men and women of faith, honor and courage to speak up.
Our generation and our future generations have all been the beneficiaries of those before us who possessed those very traits, and who also had enormous faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
We need to draw upon our inner strength, our faith, our sacred honor and defend this country from those who seek to destroy it.
We will not go quietly into the night. We will use our voices, our prayers, our faith, and finally our God-given courage to fight for and defend the country we love so much, and which has given so much to all of us. We can save this country. We just have to possess the will to do so.
